We are All Connected I

I was truly fascinated when I first learned about leafcutter ants. They don’t just cut up pieces of leaves to carry back to their anthill. They don’t actually eat them - instead, they use the greenery to cultivate a crop of fungus that feeds the entire colony. Their society has a complex, strict hierarchy, and their work plays a vital role in the whole ecosystem. That’s why I made them the main character of this piece. Because all of us, much like them, carry our own 'load' and contribute at least a little to the common good - through the discoveries of our ancestors, and the experience and knowledge we gather and pass down through generations. Whether we are driven by higher ideals or simply in 'survival mode', what we experience and what we 'carry' leaves a mark. Because one way or another – “We Are All Connected”.
